Jamie + Riley | Southwind Hills Wedding Oklahoma
I can’t believe it is coming up on a year since this gorgeous Southwind Hills wedding on a snowy New Year’s Eve in Oklahoma last year and I have no idea how I am just now blogging it, but I am so excited I finally am!
I knew the second Jamie texted me the morning of her wedding that this was going to be one of my favorite weddings ever! I got a text that morning from her that read, “There is snow at Southwind Hills!” I jumped up and immediately thought she was losing it. There was ZERO now on the ground outside, it was cold but there had been zero rain the night before. I navigated my way to Southwind Hill’s Instagram, and sure enough, they had posted a story of a blanket of snow on the ground there. It was only a 45 minute drive to Southwind Hills, so I wasn’t going to believe it until I saw it. Maybe it JUST snowed over in that area?
Colton and I made our way to Southwind and the entire drive showed zero signs of snow, not even when we were exiting. It wasn’t until we turned onto the street Southwind hills was on that we started seeing very small signs of it. As soon as we turned into the gated driveway of the venue, all of a sudden the entire lot was covered in snow! I have no idea how just one single area could collect snow when the rest of the state had none, but it was amazing! Jamie had been praying for a chance for snow and she got it! I was so happy for them and beyond excited because I LOVE snow! It was insanely cold, about a negative 5 degree wind chill and I am confident Jamie about lost her little fingers, but we all knew how worth it it would be, and it SO was! We were not about to let the snow go to waste! The wedding party would all count to three and we would run outside as fast as we could, shoot for 1 minute and then run back in, and then repeat! These photos have become some of my favorite I have ever taken and I am so glad everyone had such great attitudes about freezing their butts off in the snow!
If you’re from Oklahoma you know that snow is rare, so for it to be on the same day as their New Year’s Eve wedding in Oklahoma, that was such a blessing! The snow made the day extra fun!! We all partied until midnight and then sent off with snow of course! Riley’s reaction to Jamie walking down the aisle was so so beautiful! I have so much love and friendship with these two & Colton and I had sooo much fun documenting their day!
